Who it’s for
In California, the state says employers must carry workers’ comp even if they have only one employee. That includes part-time help.
Bundle two or more policies with Diamond and save up to 20%. A licensed agent reviews every request. Nothing on this page is a quote or proof of coverage.
Workers’ comp questions
Do I need workers’ comp for one part-time employee?
Yes. The California Department of Industrial Relations says employers need it even with only one employee.
How is the price figured?
Mostly by payroll and job class codes. A roofer’s payroll costs more to cover than an office worker’s. Your claims history matters too.
What if my employee drives for work?
Workers’ comp covers their injury. Damage to others from the accident is a commercial auto question.
